Kuwait Amir with the prime minister.

Kuwait parliament dissolved

KUWAIT, October 16, 2016

Kuwait's Amir His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah has issued a decree dissolving the country's parliament, the state news agency said.

He earlier received the Crown prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, said the Kuna report.

The decree was issued after examination of the Constitution's clause 107 and due to mounting security challenges as well as volatile regional developments, the report said.

The cabinet also has agreed to implement the Amiri decree which calls for the termination of the parliament, Kuna said.
