Dubai motor show to feature Hollywood movie cars

DUBAI, November 4, 2015

Movie cars featured in Hollywood blockbuster films will be among the star attractions at the 13th Dubai International Motor Show (Dims), set to open on November 10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Fans from around the world will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to see iconic movie cars, such as the Toyota 1968 2000 GT and the 1985 Aston Martin V8 Volante that have featured in two Bond films.

The cars will be showcased in the new Motoring Nostalgia Museum, where 40 years of the most iconic cars ever made will be showcased, along with the newest models driven by Hollywood greats.

Other cars that will be on display include the Lykan from W Motors which was featured in Furious 7 and the Volvo P1800 which was driven by Roger Moore’s character (Simon Templar) in the hit 60’s TV series ‘The Saint’. Roger Moore was reportedly so smitten with the cult 60’s car that he bought one for his own personal use.

“Many of these cars are as memorable as the films themselves,” said Trixie LohMirmand, senior vice president, exhibitions and events management, Dubai World Trade Centre.

“It’s going to be exciting for our show visitors to see these ‘superstar’ cars up close. Bringing a touch of Hollywood charm to Dims further increases the appeal for our audiences who are interested in a range of different cars, whether they be from a movie set or from across the eras.”

Tony Stark’s vehicle of choice, the 2016 Audi R8, in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron movie will be a key addition to the Audi stand at this year’s show. It’s the latest inclusion as part of Audi’s eight-year relationship with Marvel as it supplies the movie with the new TTS and A3 Cabriolet, as well as the 5.2-litre V10-powered R8 supercar.

“In its 13th edition, the show has established itself as the region’s most influential automotive event, bringing together manufacturers, distributors, industry specialists and key buyers from around the world as well as affluent motoring enthusiasts,” read a statement.-TradeArabia News Service
