Isuzu’s all-new D-Max drives more power, better efficiency

RIYADH, April 18, 2021

Isuzu Motors International Operations Thailand has virtually launched the all-new Isuzu D-MAX for the Middle East region.

Testing over 4 million km – equivalent to going around the earth 100,000 times – the all-new D-MAX is Isuzu’s seventh-generation pick-up truck and the most advanced ever produced by the Japanese automaker.

Isuzu has maintained the diesel engine, which it said made its vehicles reliable workhorses.

The Middle Eastern automobile market has witnessed an increased demand in diesel-powered vehicles thus emphasizing the importance of this market.

“Ever since the global outbreak of Covid-19 consumers became more sensitive doing their budgeting, this is where diesel engines fuel efficiency play a huge role in saving cost over a long run,” it said in a press release.

NEW ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN

The D-MAX comes with a new 3.0 L engine offering higher horsepower and torque – 10 kW and 20 Nm more compared to its preceding engine – producing 190ps.

Separately, a new 1.9-L engine, designed to take efficiency to a new level, can produces 110 kW, 150 ps and 350 Nm.

Both engines are fitted with electronically controlled Variable Geometry System (VGS), turbocharger and high-pressure direct injection fuel system that make the most of each drop of diesel.

Engine power is now transferred to the road through a more efficient and faster-shifting six-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.

OFF ROAD PERFORMANCE

The 4x4 models benefit from a solid and lighter one-piece aluminium tail-shaft, transferring to the rear differential, which is now fitted with diff-lock for constant traction when off-roading.

INTERIOR & INFOTAINMENT

The bold design continues throughout the interior, equipped with new levels of technology, comfort, convenience and connectivity than ever before. D-MAX cabin is laid out to be functional and comfortable with premium materials used throughout.

At the heart of the dash is a high-definition 7-inch infotainment display, equipped with radio, Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay as standard in high end models.

High end models further benefit from dual zone climate control for the front row and AC vents in the rear, standard across all crew cab models.

The driver is kept up to date with vehicle systems via a new 4.2-inch multi-information display, which is customisable, relaying data such as the digital speedometer, fuel usage, range data and maintenance notifications.

The Isuzu D-Max comes with extra features such as, Remote Engine Start, Walk Away Lock, and Follow Me Home lighting.

SAFETY & DRIVING CONVENIENCE

From interior to exterior, safety remains uncompromised in the D-Max.

The dual air bags with increased dimension are available in all models. Furthermore, the crash door unlock system, new chassis design, rear combination lamp, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), larger breaks, and the carried over active safety features such as Hill-start assist (HSA), Hill-descent control (HDC) makes the D-Max safer.

Service for the D-MAX range comes standard with Isuzu Middle East dealerships, encompassing Isuzu global warranty standard.
