Qatar's Gulf Drilling wins DuPont sustainability award

DOHA, October 24, 2015

Qatar-based Gulf Drilling International said it has won recognition for excellence in operational performance at the 12th edition of the DuPont Safety and Sustainability Awards held in Delaware, US.

The awards, constituted by the top chemical company, recognise outstanding intiatives aimed at enhancing workplace safety, sustainability and operational effectiveness.

Qatar's first domestic drilling contractor in oil and gas drilling services, Gulf Drilling said it was selected by an independent jury composed of leading experts in occupational safety and sustainability.
 
The others winners included Ethylene XXI Contractors SAPI de CV which won the Global Safety Award and Drives Private Limited whihc clinched the Global Sustainability Award.

On the award win, CEO Mubarak Al Hajri, said: "We are very pleased that our hard work and commitment to operational excellence has paid off. We believe that our improved operational performance has allowed us to become a more competitive, sustainable company, and proven to other companies that investing in operational excellence truly pays off."

The award ceremony was accompanied by a Best Practice Forum in which all of the winners shared the context, content and success factors for their projects.    

John Chrosniak, the president of DuPont Sustainable Solutions, lauded Gulf Drilling for its achievements and commitment to operational excellence.

"Like DuPont, it believe that progress in advancing operational performance allows companies to not only become more competitive and effective, but also serves as a model of greater efficiency and resource utilization for the entire industry," stated Chrosniak.   

Jury president Andrew Sharman, health and safety director for Owens-Illinois, said that jury members were particularly impressed by both the quality and quantity of the projects submitted for consideration this year.

“This growth is quite heartening, as I feel quite strongly that the recognition of positive contributions to workplace safety, operational excellence and corporate sustainability is crucial in galvanising the public and private sectors to promote and pursue improvement projects,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
