Asry launches programme to bolster safety protocols

MANAMA, December 5, 2016

Bahrain-based Arabian Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) said the new improvements programme aimed at bolstering its safety protocols, processes and adherence, was a major success.

Asry Chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa inspected the safety improvements and toured the various facilities accompanied by the acting chief executive Magdy Mustafa; security manager Abdulla Al Muraikhi and safety consultant Mahmood Abdul Aziz.

The inspection comes amid renewed efforts by the yard to bolster its safety protocols, processes, adherence and ultimately results, said a statement from Asry.

Shaikh Daij lauded the safety achievements made by Asry during the current year from a variety of safety aspects, and emphasised that safety is the company’s top priority.

Particularly noted was the significant improvement in housekeeping and the employees' commitment to using personal protective equipment, said a statement.

The tour included all company workshops, starting at the steel plate workshop and ending at the mechanical piping workshop, it said.

At the conclusion of the tour, Shaikh Daij said: “We still have a long way ahead to reach our ambitious safety targets.”

“The company is fully determined that previous safety lapses must never be repeated, and only through constant and perpetual training and vigilance will the overall safety culture continue to improve,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
