LG makes key Mideast, Africa appointments

DUBAI, January 16, 2016

LG Electronics, a global leader and technology innovator, has announced an executive promotion and new leadership roles for its Middle East & Africa operations.
 
The key announcement for the region was the promotion of the president, Kevin Cha to the position of executive VP at LG Electronics, MEA operations.

Cha has been the president of the LG Electronics since 2014 and his promotion reflects his impressive leadership and extensive corporate strategy experience, as well as his in-depth product and commercial expertise, said a company statement.
 
Commenting on his new role, Cha, said: "Over the last couple of years, LG Electronics has already made big strides in the global marketplace with the introduction of flagship products that have been instrumental in providing a better life for our consumers."

"I am extremely delighted to be leading the way for such an innovative brand and I am optimistic our new and exciting product line-up will entice our consumers even further," he noted.
 
Cha’s association with LG Electronics dates back to 1988. In 1993, he was appointed as the general manager of LG Electronics, Saudi Arabia.

Earlier in his career, he held several senior level roles within LG Electronics and in 2005 rose to the position of the president of LG Electronics, Shanghai, China. And recently, prior to heading the MEA region, he was made the managing director for the LG Electronics Levant.
 
Among the other key announcements, Yong Geun Choi has been appointed as the new managing director for LG Electronics in the Gulf region and the others leading positions across the region include appointments of new managing directors across markets like Levant, Egypt, Saudi, Algeria & Iran.
 
A veteran with over two decades of industry experience, Choi has been instrumental in terms of driving growth and milestone product introductions in various markets including Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon and most recently in Ethiopia.
 
In the new role, he will be primarily responsible for driving growth in key Gulf markets, expanding the B2B business and further cementing a robust organization culture.
 
"As electronics become more and more important in the daily lives of trend-setting consumers of the region, there is a tremendous opportunity to engage people in new and better ways, fueling the next phase of growth and innovation in the industry," observed Choi.
