Cavotec buys US aviation equipment group
Dubai

Cavotec Middle East FZE, a leading supplier of environment-friendly power solutions, has acquired the US-based Dabico Group, a global leader in the manufacture of airport ground support equipment.

The move is aimed at strengthening its resolve to meet the exacting demands of its customers in the Ports, Maritime and Airport sectors, said a company official.

The Cavotec MSL Holdings, the parent company of Cavotec Middle East FZE and the leaders in the design and installation of environment-friendly power solutions, inked the synergy deal recently.

'The acquisition has been in effect since April 23. With Dubai and Abu Dhabi Airports having emerged as the world’s finest and ultra modern passenger and freight platforms, Cavotec will now have an even greater commitment to quality and efficient service in the region,' Thomas Widegren, executive chairman of Cavotec Middle East, said.

“I feel that the acquisition of the Dabico adds more value to our operations. We care for the Middle East, and while developing new technical solutions, we focus on technologies that sustain the core environmental values. And the acquisition of Dabico is a right step in that direction,” he noted.

“What happens now is that the move will synergise the operations of the Cavotec Middle East. We will be able to enhance Cavotec Fladung’s existing range by adding Dabico’s fuel systems,' Widegren said.

'That will put us in a unique position to offer our customers a full complement of electrical, air, water and fuel in-ground and above-ground airport supply systems. These synergies will significantly enhance our combined presence in the worldwide market and provide new opportunities for all of our airports activities,” Widegren added.

Jurgen Strommer, managing director, Cavotec Middle East, is euphoric about the new turn of events.

“This synergy will make us serve the ever growing demands of the international airports in the region, and the Dubai Airport in particular. Now our combined solutions will be an irresistible offer for anyone who sets store by exacting standards of safety and quality,” he observed.

“It is a great opportunity for us. And we are determined to fulfil our responsibility towards the amazing growth of the Middle East,” Strommer added.

Cavotec had recently opened a Dh10 million ($2.7 million) regional headquarters in Dubai, which includes a massive warehouse and a total area of over 7,200 sqm.

The company had also launched a technical training academy for Wibe solutions, again, in Dubai.

Dabico has manufacturing operations spread over the US and UK. Dabico’s on ground airport supply systems provide safe and efficient delivery of aviation fuel and utilities to all types of commercial and military aircraft.

Over the past 40 years, Dabico has supplied these systems to aircraft manufacturers, airlines and airports all over the world.

Dabico’s commercial customers include Boeing Company, Singapore Airlines, American Airlines, Lufthansa, JAL, British Airways, and international airports in New York, Los Angeles, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Auckland.  Military customers include Air Force One, the US Coast Guard, the Royal Saudi Air Force, and many others. -TradeArabia News Service
