Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), the owner-operator of Al Ain International Airport (AAN), said Toumai Air Tchad, the national carrier of Chad, will start its cargo operations from Al Ain.
The North African airline, which is the latest to join the Al Ain cargo operations, will operate from its main home-base of N’Djamena International Airport and initially start with freighter operations between Al Ain International Airport and Swansboro, North Carolina, USA, said an ADAC statement.
Initially operating up to two flights per week from Al Ain International Airport, Toumaï Air Tchad will also become the second cargo airline to start operations from Abu Dhabi’s second major airport in 2008.
Abu Dhabi and Al Ain’s growing status as dynamic and rapidly growing economies and its massive infrastructural developments are the key attractions for a number of cargo and airline operators keen to fly to and from the UAE capital and Al Ain, the ADAC statement added.
Mohammed Al Bulooki, vice president of airline marketing and aeronautical revenue for ADAC, pointed out that Al Ain International airport’s reputation as a cargo hub, in particular, was growing fast.
“The strategic location of Al Ain International Airport makes it a natural hub for freighter companies flying into the UAE as well as it acting as a desirable short and long-haul hub for regional or international freight.”
Toumaï Air Tchad becomes the 41st airline to have started operations from Abu Dhabi airports.
