Bahraini travel enthusiast Ali Mushaima will spread a message of friendship when he embarks on a 15,000 kilometre 'Bahrain to Britain' road tour this month.
The adventurer will cross 12 countries during the two-month tour which begins in Bahrain and ends in the UK.
'The Bahrain to Britain: Voyage of Discovery' will start from the Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir, on May 21, and end at Silverstone, UK, in time for the Formula One race on July 6.
The tour follows on from Mushaima's 21,000km Dilmun to Dublin road journey in 2004.
'Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa asked me if I was planning another trip and that got me excited for a new adventure,' said Mushaima.
'The friendship tour will provide me with a unique opportunity to promote my country's history, culture and rich heritage whilst making new friends on the way,' he said.
Mushaima will drive a LR3 4X4 Land Rover through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Italy, Switzerland, France, Ireland, Scotland, and the UK where he will celebrate the end of his journey.
Mushaima will test skills learnt during the BIC's Adventure Drive Arabia programme. The adventurer will be joined by a team of travel writers and photographers at various legs of the trip.
Land Rover will provide road-side assistance in all the Gulf countries.
The team will join in the celebrations of the company's 60th anniversary by visiting Land Rover's Solihull factory on July 10 for a reception to mark the end of his tour.
Mushaima said the tour would be used as an opportunity to promote Bahrain as the home of motor racing.
'We like to talk to people who didn't have an opportunity to come to Bahrain,' he said.
'It's about promoting Bahrain as a home of motorsport, as well as promoting the strong link we have in England in particular and all the countries we travel through.
'Formula One helped to put Bahrain on the tourism map and we are pleased to promote the race. It's important to continue to promote the F1 race, we must build on our success.'
On completion of his tour Mushaima will produce a travelogue highlighting his experience.
The travelogue will be available at bookstores and hotels across the country.-TradeArabia News Service
