Emirates Float Glass (EFG), a leading manufacturer of architectural flat glass in the Middle East, said it has won a special award of appreciation from the Department of Economic Development (DED) of Abu Dhabi for its significant role in improving the emirate’s non-oil export targets last year.

A subsidiary of Glass LLC and wholly owned by Dubai Investments, EFG said its product range of clear, tinted and pyrolytic-coated float glass caters to the architectural and automotive industries, and is exported to over 40 countries.

Joy Mathews, director-Engineering Projects at EFG, received the appreciation on behalf of the organization from Mohammed Omar Abdullah, undersecretary, DED at a high profile ceremony attended by government dignitaries.

Ghassan Mashal, EFG general manager, said: "Our focus has been to aid the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and transform the UAE’s economic base for long-lasting benefits. We, at EFG, aim to continue driving our business objectives in a way that allows our sustained contribution to Abu Dhabi’s growth plans."

“EFG commenced production in March 2009. Within the short span, it has transformed itself into a world-class glass manufacturing and processing facility. Located on a 320,000 square meter plot at the Abu Dhabi Industrial City, the unit currently produces about 180,000 tons of glass products per annum under phase-I,” he added.

One of the largest single-location integrated glass manufacturing facilities in the UAE, EFG endorses world-class standards and practices in its delivery commitments.

According to Mashal, the company has long-term plans to consolidate and emerge as a global leader in this business segment.-TradeArabia News Service
