International Media Production Zone (IMPZ), a member of Tecom Investments and the free zone dedicated to the printing, publishing, media production, packaging and graphic art industries, participated in the ‘Clean Up the World’ campaign.
The campaign was organised in collaboration with Dubai Municipality and the United Nations Environment Programme (Unep).
Over 60 employees from various departments at the cluster and business partners’ staff members participated in the campaign, focusing on IMPZ’s prebuilt units (PBU) section.
“Participating in the ‘Clean Up the World’ campaign complements our efforts to raise environmental awareness amongst the IMPZ community,” said Saeed AlFalasi, executive director, IMPZ.
'Clean Up the World' is a community-based environmental programme that inspires and empowers individuals and communities from every corner of the globe to clean up, fix up and conserve their environment.
Now in its 17th year, 'Clean Up the World' annually mobilises an estimated 35 million volunteers from 120 countries, making it one of the largest community-based environmental campaigns in the world.
In line with Tecom Investments’ sustainable development policy, the Sustainable Energy and Environment Division (Seed) has launched a number of environment friendly measures at IMPZ including the launch of a comprehensive recycling system.
The first phase of the permanent Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at the International Media Production Zone has also commenced operations treating flows of up to 500m3/day. Upon the completion of the remaining phases, the facility will have the capacity to treat 24,000m3 of effluents per day.
The treated sewage effluent (TSE) water will be used for irrigation purposes to serve the landscaping in the common areas and the greenery encircling the facilities of IMPZ’s business partners.-TradeArabia News Service
