Three tourists died and two others sustained minor injuries after a boat carrying a group of 25 French nationals, along with a tour guide and the boat captain, capsized in the Wilayat of Mutrah, Muscat Governorate, Oman.

The boat was 2.5 nautical miles from Sultan Qaboos Port in the Gulf of Oman when it tipped over.

Authorities confirmed that emergency response teams from the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority managed the incident at the scene. An investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident, said Royal Oman Police (ROP).

Captain Ali Al-Farsi from Oman's Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority said: "Upon receiving the report of the tourist boat capsizing, the marine rescue team and ambulance team immediately responded to Sultan Qaboos Port in Mutrah."

"Three bodies of accident victims were received and transferred to the relevant authorities to complete the legal procedures," he said.

Oman expressed its sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the government and people of the France and to the families of the victims.
