Dewan Architects + Engineers, a global multidisciplinary design consultancy firm founded in 1984 in Abu Dhabi, unveiled the next chapter of its digital transformation journey at the recent Autodesk University (AU) 2025 event held in Nashville, US.
Following a successful presence at last year's AU event, where Dewan explored the potential of custom APIs and automation, this year’s focus reflected a significant evolution.
It also demonstrated how artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer just augmenting workflows but actively creating, automating, and accelerating them.
During the event, Dewan joined over 12,000 design and make experts at the conference with a large delegation, including CEO Ammar Al Assam, underscoring the firm’s strong commitment to advancing digital innovation in the AEC industry.
From Automation to AI: A Paradigm Shift Last year, Dewan’s efforts centred on building custom applications to speed up project delivery. This year, the spotlight turns to AI as both the creator and executor of automation.
Instead of teams coding scripts over days or weeks, Dewan’s AI applications now generate them in seconds, thus eliminating bottlenecks, streamlining operations, and radically reshaping workflows.
Central to this transformation is Quible, Dewan’s in-house BIM to AI tool. Quible is a rapidly evolving multi-agent framework that applies deep learning and large language models (LLMs) to enhance data analysis and empower design decision making.
At AU 2025, Dewan officials shared knowledge with design and make experts from around the world. The session, ‘Enhancing Efficiency with AI’ was led by Christopher Stock, Head of Digital Delivery, and Gareth Ponmoon, Digital Delivery Operations Manager.
The duo explained how Dewan was turning challenges into opportunities through bold R&D and showed how AI powered insights from BIM data could drive smarter, faster decisions. Attendees also discovered the real world impact of Autodesk Platform Services (APS) integration on everyday workflows.
They got to see how scalable AI was eliminating repetitive tasks to boost efficiency, and learned how teams could be empowered with custom tools to deliver projects faster and embrace the future of intelligent digital workflows.
As part of AU 2025, Dewan hosted an AI booth at EMEA Connect where it unveiled the Quible, demonstrating how it integrates seamlessly with APS to unlock new efficiencies.
By layering AI into established processes, Dewan is enhancing workflows and helping shape the future of AI adoption in AEC.
Christopher Stock said: "We’re at the beginning of our AI journey, but the shift is undeniable. With AI writing the code and even performing the tasks themselves, we’re moving from reactive workflows to proactive, intelligent systems that empower teams and accelerate delivery."
AI at the heart of digital excellence
Dewan’s presence at AU 2025 underscores its commitment to pushing the boundaries of digital delivery. By working towards embedding AI into core workflows, Dewan is seeking to redefine how design teams collaborate, analyse data, and deliver projects at scale, stated its CEO.
Al Assam sdaid: "Our vision has always been to place technology at the heart of our innovation strategy. With AI tools like Quible, we are not just refining workflows. We are reshaping the entire practice of architecture and engineering for the future."
"As Dewan embarks on the next phase of its AI journey, AU 2025 serves as a platform to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and inspire new thinking in the global design community," he noted.
