WEG, the global  drives manufacturer, will host a free technical webinar on Medium Voltage Variable Speed Drive Systems (MV VSDS) on July 8. 

The session will be presented by Luiz Claudio Santos, Team Leader of High Voltage Solutions (HVS) at WEG EMENA, and is aimed at engineers, plant managers, consultants, EPC contractors, OEMs, and industrial professionals involved in high-power motor applications.

As industries continue to pursue lower energy consumption, reduced emissions, and improved operational efficiency, variable speed drive technology has become one of the most effective tools available for optimising motor-driven systems. 

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), electric motor systems account for approximately 45 percent of global electricity consumption, making them one of the largest opportunities for industrial energy savings.

Many industrial facilities continue to operate pumps and compressors at fixed speed or rely on inefficient flow-control methods. In suitable applications, medium voltage variable speed drives can significantly reduce energy consumption while improving process control and reliability, with energy savings often resulting in payback periods of less than two years.

"One of the most common questions we receive from customers is whether a medium voltage drive is technically and economically justified for their application," said Luiz. "This webinar will provide practical guidance on how to evaluate those opportunities, understand the available technologies, and guide on the selection of the available solutions for the application."

Participants will gain practical insight into modern MV VSDS and the factors that influence their performance, efficiency, reliability, and total cost of ownership.
