Oman LNG has marked a key milestone with the arrival and loading of the LNG carrier “Muscat LNG”, which has departed on its maiden voyage carrying the first cargo of liquefied natural gas from Oman to international markets.
The shipment reinforces Oman’s position as a reliable global
energy supplier and highlights growing integration across the country’s energy,
maritime, and logistics sectors.
The vessel, owned by Asyad Shipping, is one of the latest
additions to Oman’s LNG shipping fleet and has been built to advanced
international standards for safety, efficiency, and environmental performance.
It features dual-fuel propulsion systems and modern
technologies designed to reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency, aligning
with global energy transition goals.
The deployment of “Muscat LNG” strengthens Oman’s export
capacity and supports national efforts under Oman Vision 2040 to enhance its
role in global energy supply chains and maritime logistics.
It also reflects the strength of Oman’s integrated energy
ecosystem and its focus on sustainable, efficient transport solutions.
Oman LNG, established in 1994, is a flagship national energy
company and one of the country’s largest revenue contributors after oil.
Beyond its commercial role, the company has supported
wide-ranging social investment initiatives in education, healthcare, employment
and entrepreneurship.
The Oman LNG Development Foundation’s investment arm holds a
10% stake in the vessel, underscoring continued strategic support for energy
and logistics expansion.
The arrival of “Muscat LNG” is the first of two LNG carriers
expected at the terminal, with a second vessel scheduled in July, further
strengthening Oman’s LNG production, shipping and global delivery capabilities.
Hamad Al Nu’amani- Chief Executive Officer of Oman LNG- said: “This first shipment aboard Muscat LNG marks an important milestone in our journey to continuously enhance Oman’s LNG export capabilities. It reflects our strong collaboration with national partners, including Asyad Shipping, and our shared commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and delivering reliable energy to the world.” -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
