Dubai diamond trade soars to hit record $41.7bn in 2025

Dubai's diamond trade reached a record $41.7 billion in 2025, surpassing the previous high of $40.9 billion set in 2011, as trading volumes and demand for natural diamonds increased, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) said on Monday.

DMCC operates the Dubai Diamond Exchange, one of the world's largest diamond trading hubs, as the emirate continues to strengthen its role as a global centre linking diamond producers, manufacturers and consumer markets.

According to Dubai Customs data released by DMCC, total diamond trade rose 16.2% from $35.8 billion in 2024, while traded volumes climbed 42.5% year-on-year to a record 359.5 million carats.

It was the first time Dubai recorded all-time highs in both the value and physical volume of diamond trade in the same year.

Natural diamonds accounted for $39.9 billion, or 95.8%, of total diamond trade value. Trade in natural polished diamonds rose nearly 25% from a year earlier to $18.7 billion, while rough diamond volumes increased about 34% to 205.2 million carats, the second-highest level on record.

Trade in coloured gemstones also reached a record, rising 48% year-on-year to $1.1 billion, said the statement.

Since 2020, the value of diamond trade through Dubai has increased 139%, while traded volumes have doubled, according to the data. Over the same period, the value of natural polished diamond trade has risen 246%, it added.
