Bahrain’s Labour Fund “Tamkeen” and M42, a global health leader powered by AI, advanced technology and genomics, have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore areas of collaboration aimed at creating promising opportunities for Bahraini talent and driving innovation in the healthcare sector.
This collaboration aims to provide a number of training opportunities for doctors working at Amana Healthcare Bahrain, and launch the Amana Academy, a specialised simulation-based training centre within the facility. It will also introduce a range of digital initiatives across the public healthcare sector, including an AI-powered clinical assistant and a dedicated patient application.
This support aligns with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities for 2026, which focus on areas with the highest contribution to the economy and local talent. It also reflects Tamkeen’s role in shaping career pathways through programs that connect skills with opportunities in the labour market, adopting innovative approaches to stimulate private sector growth and financing, and implementing programmes that enhance the fund’s efficiency and effectiveness by developing internal mechanisms and continuously strengthening governance.
Scheduled to open in Q4 2026, Amana Academy will feature an auditorium, multiple classrooms and a simulation wing to enable structured, hands-on learning. During the first phase, Amana Academy will support the development of Amana Healthcare Bahrain’s staff, with plans to later expand its offering to specialised and allied healthcare professionals across the Kingdom.
This partnership builds on the ongoing collaboration between Tamkeen and M42 in Bahrain by supporting the private sector, expanding training, employment, and skills development opportunities for Bahrainis, and enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services through national capacity building and the adoption of advanced technologies.
Amana Academy
Amana Academy is the first of several initiatives in the partnership’s pipeline designed to deliver tangible outcomes for Bahrain’s healthcare workforce and wider sector growth. These include a programme to increase Bahrainisation at Amana Healthcare Bahrain; and supporting the development of national talent, as well as a program to support the qualification, training, and career progression of doctors targeting general practitioners, in addition to other initiatives designed to expand employment opportunities and develop specialized skills in the healthcare sector.

The announcement builds on Tamkeen and M42’s ongoing collaboration in Bahrain, including Tamkeen’s support of Amana Healthcare Bahrain, a first-of-its-kind long-term care and post-acute rehabilitation hospital developed in strategic partnership by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) and M42. This facility paved the way for the creation of over 300 job opportunities for Bahrainis in the healthcare sector and strengthened specialist services in the Kingdom. – TradeArabia News Service
