Governor of Aseer Region and Chairman of the Aseer Development Authority Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz on August 30 laid the foundation stone for the “Westin Abha” project, a major tourism development spanning more than 153,000 square meters.
The project is designed to strengthen Aseer’s tourism and
hospitality sector and will feature 330 hotel units, 52 villas and chalets, and
78 residential units.
It will also include gardens, restaurants, retail outlets, a
walkway, event spaces and community service facilities.
In a speech delivered on behalf of investors and partners,
Manarat Aldeyafah Company Chairman Saleh Alghamdi said the project represents a
qualitative addition to the region’s tourism and hospitality sector and
highlights its growing investment potential.
“The Westin Abha project represents a qualitative addition
to the tourism and hospitality sector in Aseer Region and reflects the
promising investment opportunities available in the region.”
Alghamdi said the project is expected to create more than
1,000 direct, indirect, seasonal and training opportunities for local residents
while supporting the development of national talent.
A cooperation agreement was also signed with King Khalid
University to train more than 250 students in media, architecture, engineering,
tourism and hospitality, preparing them for future employment on the project. -TradeArabia News Service
