Saudi Arabia’s landmark Jeddah Tower approaches 500m mark

Jeddah Tower, Saudi Arabia’s landmark mega-tall mixed-use tower, has achieved a major construction milestone reaching level 120 (approximately 482m) on its journey to become the tallest building in the world, clocking more than 21 million working hours without a lost-time incident and zero fatalities, revealed the Kingdom Holding Company, a major international investment firm owned by Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, in its third-quarter results.

The skyscraper serves as the centrepiece of the broader Jeddah Economic City, a 57-million-sq-ft development designed to reposition the kingdom as a premier global hub for business and luxury tourism.

An architectural wonder with a planned height of over 1,000m, the project is being developed by Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), a prominent Saudi real estate development firm backed heavily by the Kingdom Holding Company.

Announcing its results for the three-month period ended September 30, 2026, the Saudi group said its net profit attributable to shareholders surged 14% to SAR906 million ($238 million) compared to last year's figure of SAR795 million ($208 million).

The results, which included a one-off impairment reversal of SAR500 million, were supported by better performance from Four Seasons, BSF and international investments, it stated.

Giving a project update, Jeddah Tower said the work is in full swing on the skyscraper with more than 322,000 cu m of concrete already poured (representing 72% of the total) and over 3,900 facade panels getting installed.

The first-fix mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works are under way, while the specialist steel subcontractor for the Sky Terrace has mobilised at the site, stated the company adding additional high-capacity concrete pumps have also been delivered to the site.

Thanks to the 6,400-strong project workforce, the tower project has entered the fast track and is expected to exceed 500m in height by the end of this year, it added.

The JEC is managing the project in co-operation with renowned architects Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture and engineers from Thornton Tomasetti and Langan International.-TradeArabia News Service
