Oman’s Khareef Dhofar season draws 881,424 visitors by mid-August

Visitor numbers during Oman’s Khareef Dhofar monsoon season rose 6.6% year-on-year to 881,424 between June 21 and August 15, 2026, according to preliminary estimates released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Omani visitors accounted for the largest share at 72.5%, with 639,360 visitors compared with 591,577 during the same period in 2025.

Visitors from GCC countries increased to 156,216 from 143,431, while visitors of other nationalities declined to 85,848 from 92,107.

Air arrivals recorded the strongest growth, increasing 13.6% to 212,562 visitors from 187,153 a year earlier.

Land arrivals also rose, reaching 668,862 visitors compared with 639,962 during the corresponding period of 2025.

July was the busiest month during the period, attracting 451,355 visitors, up from 421,506 in July 2025.

Visitor numbers during 21-30 June stood at 21,094, compared with 20,594 a year earlier.

From 1-15 August, Dhofar received 408,975 visitors, compared with 385,015 during the same period in 2025.

The first half of August accounted for 46.4% of total visitors recorded since the beginning of the 2026 season.

The latest figures highlight continued growth in visitor traffic to Dhofar during the annual khareef season, with increases recorded across both air and land arrivals. -TradeArabia News Service
