Oman’s total refinery products reached 129.08 million barrels by the end of July 2026, down 3.7 per cent from the same period a year earlier, according to preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The decline was driven largely by lower production of several key fuels, although aviation fuel, premium gasoline and naphtha recorded increases during the first seven months of the year.

Total automotive fuel production fell 1.4 per cent year-on-year. Regular gasoline (M91) production declined 4.5 per cent to 9.63 million barrels, compared with 10.09 million barrels in the corresponding period of 2025.

M91 sales also fell 4.6 per cent to 10.04 million barrels, while exports increased 9.8 per cent to 1.98 million barrels.

Premium gasoline (M95) production, meanwhile, rose 2.6 per cent to 8.32 million barrels from 8.11 million barrels.

Despite higher output, domestic sales dropped 10.6 per cent to 8.86 million barrels, while exports fell 33.9 per cent to 362,900 barrels.

Diesel production recorded one of the sharper declines, falling 6.8 per cent to 43.31 million barrels from 46.48 million barrels a year earlier.

Diesel sales decreased 8.3 per cent to 11.11 million barrels, while exports fell 11.8 per cent to about 33.33 million barrels.

Aviation fuel was a notable area of growth. Production increased 12 per cent to 16.79 million barrels, compared with 14.99 million barrels in the same period of 2025.

Sales declined 9.2 per cent to 2.57 million barrels, but exports jumped 27.4 per cent to 14.52 million barrels.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production fell 3.3 per cent to 6.46 million barrels, while sales declined 22 per cent to 1.76 million barrels.

Exports, however, increased 3.9 per cent to 2.06 million barrels.

Naphtha production rose 4.5 per cent to 22.61 million barrels, with sales increasing 3.2 per cent to 8.33 million barrels.

Exports also grew 2.6 per cent to around 14.66 million barrels.

Production of other refinery products fell 15.9 per cent to 21.97 million barrels.

Sales dropped 21.7 per cent to 18.32 million barrels, while exports declined 3.1 per cent to 5.62 million barrels.

In the petrochemicals sector, benzene production increased 7.3 per cent to 109,900 metric tonnes, with exports rising 11.3 per cent to 108,000 tonnes.

Paraxylene production also grew 9.6 per cent to 370,500 tonnes, while exports rose 1.7 per cent to 372,400 tonnes.

Polypropylene was the main petrochemicals decline, with production falling 25.4 per cent to 149,900 tonnes.

Sales nevertheless increased 32.1 per cent to 23,500 tonnes, while exports declined 17.9 per cent to 122,300 tonnes.

The figures highlight a mixed performance across Oman’s refining and petrochemicals industries, with weaker output in several major fuel categories partly offset by growth in aviation fuel, naphtha and selected petrochemical products.-OGN/TradeArabia News Service
