OQT names Emmanuël Brasseur Head of LNG in Dubai

OQT, Oman’s global commodity trading company, has appointed Emmanuël Brasseur as Head of LNG at its Dubai office, strengthening its leadership as it expands its presence across global liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets.

Brasseur joins OQT from Castleton Commodities International, where he served as Executive Director, Global LNG Physical. He brings more than 20 years of experience in LNG trading, origination and portfolio management across the Atlantic, Middle East and Asian markets.

His appointment supports OQT’s strategy to expand its LNG portfolio and strengthen its origination capabilities across major global markets. LNG is a key pillar of OQT’s commodity strategy alongside crude oil, refined products, petrochemicals and fertilisers.

With significant new liquefaction capacity expected to come online globally through 2030, OQT sees opportunities across the LNG value chain, including supply origination, freight optimisation and longer-term offtake relationships in Asia, Europe and emerging import markets.

Brasseur previously held senior positions at JERA Global Markets, Diamond Gas International/Mitsubishi, Eni Trading and Suez Group/Distrigas. At JERA Global Markets, he led Atlantic Basin optimisation for an asset-backed portfolio with capacity exceeding 30 million tonnes per annum.

In his new role, Brasseur will oversee OQT’s LNG business across the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Atlantic Basin, with responsibility for portfolio development, trading, optimisation and developing new supply and offtake relationships.

OQT, the trading arm of Oman’s integrated national energy company OQ and part of the Oman Investment Authority group, has developed an integrated multi-commodity trading platform over the past two decades. The company is now positioning LNG as a major growth pillar for the coming decade.

Wail Al Jamali, Chief Executive Officer of OQT, said: “Emmanuel’s appointment marks an important step in the development of OQT’s LNG business. He brings a sought-after combination of commercial, portfolio and origination experience across the world’s major LNG markets. As we expand our LNG portfolio and global partnerships, he will help us build the capabilities needed to serve our ambitions as a leading global commodity trading house.”

Emmanuel Brasseur, Head of LNG at OQT, said: “OQT combines an asset-backed foundation with a trading mindset, an established credibility in the industry with the ambition to build a globally connected LNG business. I look forward to developing the portfolio, strengthening relationships with counterparties, and helping to build the next phase of OQT’s LNG platform.” -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
