The European Union recorded more than 2 million commercial flights between June and August 2026, reflecting continued growth in air traffic, according to Eurostat.
July was the busiest month, with 709,931 flights, up 2.8%
from 2025 and 5.7% from 2024.
August followed with 708,980 flights, increasing 2.3%
year-on-year and 5.7% compared with 2024. June recorded 662,480 flights, up
2.1% from 2025 and 4.9% from 2024.
In August, flight numbers increased in 19 EU countries while
eight recorded declines. Slovakia posted the largest annual increase at 37%,
followed by Malta at 12.4% and Estonia at 8.3%.
Austria recorded the steepest decline at 4.7%, followed by
