Dr Mohamed Al Zaabi named Abu Dhabi Culture and Tourism Undersecretary

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a resolution appointing Dr Mohamed Al Zaabi as Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

Al Zaabi will continue to serve as Managing Director of Miral, while taking on his new role supporting Abu Dhabi’s culture and tourism strategy and its ambitions to strengthen the emirate’s position as a global destination for culture, heritage, creativity and tourism.

He has played a key role in major initiatives spanning destination development, tourism growth and strategic partnerships, helping raise Abu Dhabi’s international profile and support its economic diversification objectives.

Al Zaabi joined Miral in 2015 and previously served as Group Chief Executive Officer, overseeing the development of major leisure, entertainment and cultural destinations.

Under his leadership, Yas Island expanded its position as a leading regional destination, while Miral grew its portfolio through new assets and international partnerships.

His career also includes several project and development roles at Aldar Properties PJSC and a position as Head of Integrated Technologies at a subsidiary of Emirates Advanced Investment.

Al Zaabi serves as Chairman of Miral Destinations and sits on the Board of Miral Experiences. He was elected to the board of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) in 2024 and has been recognised by Forbes Middle East among its Top 100 Travel & Tourism Leaders.

He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Warwick, an Executive MBA from INSEAD, an MSc in Strategic Project Planning from Heriot-Watt University and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from UAE University.

He was also the first Emirati to earn Cisco’s CCIE professional certification. -TradeArabia News Service
