Etihad Airways will increase its Abu Dhabi-Damascus service to daily flights from November 14, 2026, expanding the route from four to seven flights a week as demand grows between the UAE and Syria.
The airline launched
the route in June and said the service has been well received by passengers in
both countries.
The connection has
quickly become an important link for families, business travellers and
passengers connecting through Abu Dhabi to destinations across Etihad’s wider
network.
The move to a daily
schedule will give travellers greater flexibility, particularly Syrians living
and working in the UAE who regularly travel home to visit family.
“Many Syrians have
built their careers and raised their families in the UAE. For them, a daily
service means a journey home can be planned around a family occasion or a long
weekend,” the airline said.
Arik De, Etihad
Airways Chief Revenue & Commercial Officer, said: “The response to our
Damascus service has impressed us from the very first flight, and a daily
service is the natural next step. It brings the Syrian capital within easy
reach of our guests in the UAE, and places Damascus just one stop from the many
destinations we serve beyond Abu Dhabi.”
The expanded service
will also strengthen connections between Syria and Etihad’s international
network through Abu Dhabi.
Passengers travelling
from Damascus will be able to connect onward to destinations including Muscat
and the Maldives, as well as cities in North America such as Toronto, Calgary,
New York and Charlotte.
Calgary is set to join
Etihad’s network on October 25 as the airline’s newest destination in North
America.
The increased service also provides greater opportunities for passengers travelling in the opposite direction to visit Abu Dhabi, where Etihad promotes its Stopover programme for travellers extending their stay in the UAE capital. -TradeArabia News Service
