Sustainability business practices in focus at Abu Dhabi forum

ABU DHABI, February 9, 2016

Sustainability practitioners from every sector are set to share their sustainability practices at an upcoming forum in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Leadership Forum will take place on February 17 and 18 at Rosewood Abu Dhabi.

It aims at fostering sustainable development, innovation, and responsible business growth.

The forum will also provide opportunities to learn from regional sustainability leaders and be exposed to some of the latest sustainability approaches from global thought-leaders.

The event is being supported by the Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi (EAD) and sponsored by Dolphin Energy and Etihad Airways as the official airline for the event.

More than 200 thought leaders, sustainability professionals and business pioneers are expected to gather to debate topics and issues that are critical to sustainability.

A key thread will be how innovative sustainability practices can contribute to a more resilient, diverse, global economy.

The forum has been designed to benefit everyone from the private sector to government entities and not-for-profit sector.

Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, secretary general, EAD, said: "We are experiencing unprecedented levels of change in our economies, our societies and of course our environment. There is a genuine national and international commitment to respond to these changes which has been reflected in the Sustainable Development Goals and the commitments made at COP21.

"Honouring these commitments also requires the government and the private sector to radically change their approach to development. This can only be done through creation and adoption of invocative practices."

Adel Ahmed Albuainain, chief executive officer, Dolphin Energy, said: "We are delighted to sponsor this important initiative once again and take a leading role in helping highlight the importance of pursuing sustainability strategies aimed at driving future prosperity.

"As a key player in the energy sector we have a responsibility to look at ways in which we address the soaring energy demand and the need to use less. We look forward to sharing our thoughts on this issue and others over the course of the forum."

James Hogan, Etihad's president and CEO, said: "We are pleased once again to demonstrate our support to the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group and its second Leadership Forum. This is an important event to share, inform and educate and we look forward to active and productive participation."

Speaking ahead of the event, Huda Al Houqani, ADSG director, said: "It is the ADSG members and sponsors that facilitate and foster collaboration to tackle sustainability issues - every one of them makes a contribution to ensure the success of events such as this.

"We are particularly grateful to our members Dolphin Energy and Etihad Airways as sponsors of this event and for the continued support and guidance of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi."

"We have leading edge speakers joining us and an exciting agenda covering the biggest issues in sustainability. We look forward to welcoming our partners and members to join us to enrich the debate and help our attendees with moving from sustainability theory to practice by learning from speakers and each other" she added.

The two-day event will boast an excellent line-up of keynote speakers and panel discussions, helping to highlight key issues in sustainability, innovation and showcasing best practices in responsible business operations across the region. - TradeArabia News Service
