Avenues-Bahrain Phase II marks safety milestone; 20pc completion
MANAMA, April 20, 2023
The Avenues Company, a unit of Al Sorouh Management Company, has achieved a major construction milestone on its expansion project in Bahrain by clocking 1 million safe hours without any Lost-Time-Injury (LTI).
Work on the Phase Two of Avenues Bahrain - the first commercial and leisure mall of its kind in the kingdom with a unique 1.5-km-long waterfront - kicked off in September last year.
With around 20% work already accomplished, it is on track for completion by Q2 2024. Leading Bahraini construction group Nass is the main contractor for the project.
Following the expansion, Avenues Bahrain will add an additional 41,000 sq m leasable space, which will include 244 units, two entertainment areas, an ice rink, a supermarket, as well as a basement parking, thus bringing its total leasable area to approximately 80,000 sq m.
A leading construction company in Bahrain and the wider region, Nass Contracting said its involvement in The Avenues-Bahrain expansion project was a testament to its expertise and experience in the field.
Working closely with the project teams from Bahrain-based Mohamed Salahaduddin Consulting Engineering Bureau (MSCEB) and global infrastructure consulting firm Aecom, a wealth of knowledge and experience was provided at all stages of the development process - from the planning and design phase to the construction - to ensure the project continues to progress smoothly and efficiently, it stated.
On the key safety milestone, The Avenues Company said it highlights the commitment to applying the highest safety standards at work sites, as the safety measures are undoubtedly among the most important criteria that the group considers when approving contractors, to ensure the protection of workers from injuries, which in turn achieves a commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of the project.
The successful completion of the project will cement The Avenues-Bahrain as the largest development in Bahrain Bay.
It will also reinforce the Mall as a leading destination that aims to provide a different experience beyond shopping for citizens, tourists, and businessmen alike from the Gulf region and beyond, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
