AACSH launches stem cell technology in UAE

DUBAI, March 9, 2016

The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital (AACSH) is now offering UAE patients the chance to experience revolutionary stem cell technology following the opening of an adult stem cell storage bank in the country.

Stem cell technology will enable the use of adult stem cells, derived from fat tissue, for regenerative purposes – in the health and beauty space, stem cell technology is now used as a more natural alternative to surgical breast augmentations, buttock reshaping and facial rejuvenation.

Traditionally, fat removed from the body during liposuction was thrown away as medical waste. Due to breakthrough technology, these youthful cells began to be harvested and sent for in vitro expansion to avail the largest number of vital cells.

They will then be reused in breast reconstruction and augmentation, non-surgical facelifts, anti-ageing and regenerative therapies, wound care and more.

The AACSH, home to world-renowned cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons, now has access to adult stem cell banks to accommodate storage for patient cells for harvesting and storing, for use at a later stage.

The proliferation of cells can take up to two weeks and post-harvesting, cells can be kept in the bank for a lifetime and used when needed.

Dr Firas Hamdan, the first surgeon to operate at the AACSH soon after its official inauguration back in 2008, is a leading ambassador for stem cell research and advocates stem cell treatments against other, less natural procedures.

“People are becoming far more educated and discerning regarding their health and beauty choices. With increasing accessibility of pioneering treatments using stem cell technology, more and more patients are steering towards natural solutions," said Dr Hamdan.

Dr Matteo Vigo, chief medical officer at AACSH, said: “With revolutionary technology such as stem cell expansion becoming increasingly used in the beauty and health field, the aesthetic medicine landscape looks to change significantly in the years ahead.

"Combining fat grafting, stem cells and DNA analysis can guarantee incredible, long-lasting and natural results, omitting the need for surgery in many cases, such as breast augmentations and buttock reshaping.

“With a complete team of stem-cell specialized physicians practicing as residents at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital (AACSH), the hospital is the most advanced practice in the Middle East for delivering the very best stem cell treatments and I look forward to welcoming more patients to the hospital to experience a more natural solution to their needs.” - TradeArabia News Service
