ABU DHABI, October 10, 2018

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec), in collaboration with its subsidiary Nawah Energy Company, hosted a Supplier Forum today (October 10) in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The forum brought together delegates representing a diverse range of UAE-based companies as well as employees from Enec and Nawah.

The forum is an integral component of Enec’s ongoing efforts to support the development and growth of a local supply chain that can meet operational service, spare part and consumable requirements for the safe, secure and efficient construction and operation of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant for the next 60 years or more.

The forum highlighted the requirements to qualify as a supplier to the Barakah project and described the opportunities for provision of goods and services that will be available over the next decade.

The nuclear energy industry has some of the most stringent quality, technical and risk management standards in the world, and Enec is committed to working alongside local and international companies, to ensure they meet the unique requirements of the peaceful nuclear energy industry.

Enec chief executive officer Mohamed Al Hammadi said: “The UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program is already supporting many strategic sectors through the enhancement of local businesses, the development of new industries, and the creation of high-value jobs. Through this forum we hope to continue to enhance our relationships with key suppliers and share upcoming opportunities with both local and international companies.”

“By supporting the growth and development of a local supply chain, Enec is not only ensuring the future sustainability of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program, but contributing to the UAE’s economic diversification and transition to a knowledge-based economy, in line with the Abu Dhabi Plan,” added Al Hammadi.
