Passenger numbers at Dubai airport to hit 1bn

DUBAI, August 27, 2018

The total number of passengers travelling through Dubai International Airport (DXB) is set to hit one billion this year, Dubai Media Office has announced.

Since its opening in the 1960s, the airport has witnessed passenger numbers soar. In 2017, nearly 90 million people passed through the airport, making it the world's busiest hub for international passengers, according to Airports Council International.

As more and more passengers continue to travel, officials estimate that 2018 will be the year that DXB achieves its historic milestone.

"Later this year, Dubai International Airport is set to welcome its billionth passenger since its opening back in the 1960s," Dubai Media Office said in a tweet. - TradeArabia News Service
