Emirates set to sail the seas with cruise arm - April 1 prank

DUBAI, April 2, 2023

"Emirates will now be sailing across the seven seas with its newly-launched maritime arm, Emirates Sealine. Lucky ship-spotters and cruise aficionados witnessed glimpses of the first liner as it majestically sailed round Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah on April 1."

Wow ... that is wonderful news, one thought. However, as it turns out it was an April 1 prank played by the Dubai-based airline itself. And it worked well, we would say.

The statement said Emirates Sealine is promising cruisers top-tier and never-before-imagined experiences as they voyage to rarely-before-seen ports of call. It placed a titanic, multi-billion-dollar order for an initial 10 cruise ships which are currently being fitted with the latest and the best.

"We’ve conquered the skies, and now, we’re charting course to take over the seas! Introducing Emirates Sealine - our ultra-luxurious cruise liner. Bookings open on 31 June, for its maiden voyage to Karachi on 1 April 2024," an Instagram post by Emirates said. Smart ones quickly spotted the 'June 31' in the text to decide it is after all an April 1 joke.

The press release was accompanied by an image which showed a cruise liner sailing round Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.

The full press release is still on Emirates site

The article getting a free run goes to prove that alertness of journalists is tested every minute and they can't take anything for granted even from a reputed airline. – TradeArabia News Service
