Emirates has repurposed more than 88,000kg of plastic from Economy Class inflight meal service items, transforming them into new products for use onboard, the airline said highlighting the significant impact of its closed-loop recycling programme, first launched in June 2023.

Leading Kuwaiti group Metal and Recycling Company has announced that it has signed a plastic waste management agreement with Equate Petrochemical Company, under which it will manage and recycle the plastic waste generated by Equate’s industrial operations.
The GCC countries have built an investment base of $426 billion across nearly 22,000 factories, contributing 13% of regional GDP in 2025, said a report. About 40% of the industrial investments are concentrated in key sectors such as plastics, refined petroleum products, aluminium and iron and steel.
