Sudhir Kumar Shetty, COO – Global Operations, UAE Exchange, has won the ‘NRI of the Year Award’ in the professional category.

The awards were instituted together by ICICI Bank, India’s largest private sector bank, and Times Now, India’s No 1 English news channel.

The first award ceremony was held in Mumbai on March 24.

The award honours individuals who have achieved a high level of success in leading an organisation as an employee.

“I feel extremely honoured,” said Shetty. “I am thankful to the jury, who considered me worthy of qualifying for the award and I am grateful to each one, who voted for me online.”

Shetty, a chartered accountant and a law graduate, has been heading UAE Exchange, a leading global remittance and foreign exchange brand, as its COO – Global Operations, since 1991. From an organisation with four branches in the UAE, he has led the entity to emerge into a global player with over 700 branches in 31 countries, the largest networked brand in its class, said a statement.
