30 interns to undergo internship at Al Salam Bahrain

MANAMA, July 6, 2015

Al Salam Bank-Bahrain welcomed a batch of 30 young Bahrainis, to the bank’s ninth consecutive annual summer internship programme.

The induction programme for the 23 female and seven male students was held at the Ramee Hotel, said a statement.

As one of the pioneering shari’a-compliant banks in Bahrain, Al Salam Bank is committed towards raising the level of quality of the Bahraini talents while strengthening its corporate social responsibility programmes with the belief that investing in young Bahraini talents will pay off for the skilled workforce demands later, it said.

The students are currently completing their respective majors at the University of Bahrain as well as at other local and international private universities.

The interns will undergo a two-month-long intensive hands-on training programme within the bank’s key departments and will be mentored in different activities including retail, corporate banking, private banking, treasury, operations and corporate communications.

During the programme, each intern will be facilitated with a training plan for which they will be monitored and reviewed to ensure that they benefit from this exercise.

Muna Al Balooshi, group head of Human Resources at the bank, said: “We are delighted to see an increase in the number of interns and we feel a sense of pride to be able to invest in the new generation of financial services professionals in the kingdom.”

This year, the programme will offer a unique opportunity to gain practical experience, an invaluable insight into a working life, learn and develop new skills along with a feel for the career opportunities available to them once they graduate.

The summer internship programme will include a special self-learning skill session conducted by Sami Al Buarki, a professional lecturer and trainer in leadership and self-development.

The session has been designed to enrich interns in discovering their capabilities, exploring their inner motivation and provide useful information in developing skills such as communication, time management, understand work ethics and develop customer’s or peer’s relationship.

In addition to this, the bank will also provide comprehensive in-house training workshops by senior management to expose trainees to the various dynamics of the banking and financial institutions in a real working environment. - TradeArabia News Service
