ADGM to create financial services talent hub

ABU DHABI, May 6, 2017

Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the international financial centre, has announced the creation of a new talent hub in the UAE capital specifically for financial services.
ADGM Talent Hub is pillared on four components of which the vital one is attracting and working with leading academic and professional institutions to be part of this journey and establish a presence in Al Maryah Island, said the statement from the financial centre.
International Business Schools and professional institutions will be able to set up their offices and presence, in Al Maryah Island, providing financial related programs, while certification providers will ensure access to continuous professional development for financial services in the region.
ADGM has already reached an agreement with the prestigious New York University, and is currently in advanced discussions with a number of leading academic and professional institutions as it works toward creating successful programs.
This initiative is aligned to ADGM's strategic objectives and life style of its international financial Centre with a clear vision to position Abu Dhabi as a regional centre of excellence for financial services talent development, said the statement.
The initiative aims to increase access to and the development of human capital in the finance sector. The Talent Hub will promote professional excellence by enhancing knowledge, standards, compliance, ethics and innovation in financial services, as Abu Dhabi establishes itself as a regional center of excellence for talent development within the sector.
"We believe that the collaboration and cooperation of all Abu Dhabi Financial Institutions and clients is paramount for the success of this initiative," he noted.
In partnership with National & International financial institutions, and key to creating a knowledge-based economy, ADGM’s board also approved the establishment of its own state of art Learning Academy.
Based in Al Maryah Island, the academy will offer training and development opportunities for financial services professionals, in areas such as professional continuous development, leadership, soft skills, as well as technical skills.
Simultaneously, ADGM started hosting several programs and events since start of this year and ongoing schedules are confirmed.
Other components of the Talent Hub include the formation of a research and endowment committee to commission and publish economic research relevant to the region, as well as an ongoing program of seminars, workshops and conferences, to build knowledge across the industry, and position Abu Dhabi competitively within a global economy.
To date, several well-attended events have been hosted as part of the seminar program, with the next scheduled in early May, run by an international banking group.
Commenting on the initiative, chairman Ahmed Al Sayegh said: "The financial sector is an important enabler of economic growth – not only for Abu Dhabi, but for the UAE and the wider region. It is an enabler of innovation, and we recognize that we must also innovate within the industry."
"For this reason, it is imperative that we provide the necessary tools and resources for professionals, to ensure that we are not only responding to change, but driving it. By expanding our professional development offering on Al Maryah Island, we will help to cultivate a highly-skilled workforce, and ensure Abu Dhabi is an attractive destination to pursue a career in finance," noted Al Sayegh.
"Since ADGM became operational, it has worked closely with local and international stakeholders to understand and help to support their own ambitions and needs – particularly regarding innovation in the sector," he said.
"The development of this initiative is a strategic requirement in direct response to the needs of the financial community in Abu Dhabi, as the development of talent is essential for the success of ADGM," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
