Mastercard expands career initiative programme

DUBAI, December 3, 2017

Mastercard, a leading technology company in the global payments industry, has rolled out an expanded second edition of its ‘Relaunch your Career’ initiative.

‘Relaunch your Career’ is a global initiative by Mastercard that enables experienced professionals to re-enter the workplace after taking a career break. The programme provides participants with the tools and resources they need to pursue their professional aspirations, building on Mastercard’s commitment to creating an inclusive environment that respects employees’ individual strengths and experiences.

The launch of the programme earlier this year saw Mastercard receive more than 1,500 applications from across the region, out of which three candidates were invited to join a three-month pilot programme at the company’s regional headquarters in Dubai. After completing the programme, all three participants were offered full-time roles at Mastercard.

The next phase of the programme will offer four opportunities for a four-month period at Mastercard’s offices in Dubai, starting on February 1, 2018. In addition, Mastercard is also opening three ‘Relaunch your Career’ opportunities in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“As a company that prides itself on its inclusive workplace culture, we consider it among our top priorities and responsibilities to create opportunities for all talented professionals, and have found that those with recent career breaks are often overlooked,” said Scott Tierney, senior vice president of Human Resources, Middle East and Africa, Mastercard.

“Relaunch your Career demonstrates our commitment to nurturing a diverse and dynamic global workforce ecosystem that values experience. We commend the resolve of individuals on career breaks continuing their professional journey, and are excited to meet the next cohort of professionals joining our fast-growing and dynamic Mastercard team,” he added.

Individuals seeking to enrol in the ‘Relaunch your Career’ programme must have previous mid-career level experience ideally gained in technology, financial services, e-commerce, and professional services organizations. The Mastercard team is looking for team players and relationship-builders with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
