Bahrain is negotiating with Saudi authorities the possibility of importing sand by sea.

The proposal aims to reduce costs of road transport via King Fahad Causeway, said Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa in reply to a parliamentary query regarding the rising prices of building materials.

A committee representing the Cabinet, the Industry and Commerce Ministry and the Works and Housing Ministry has been tasked to study the proposal of setting up a company jointly by the Housing Bank and private sector companies to import building materials, the Premier was quoted as saying by the Gulf Daily News. – TradeArabia News Service
