ETA Star’s Verde bags green project award

ETA Star Properties has won a top environmental award for its Verde Residences and Offices in Dubai Maritime City.

The “Best Green Development Award” at the inaugural Arabian Property Middle East Awards was bagged by the two-tower Verde Offices and Residences, which is designed to achieve Gold ratings, as provided by the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) programme.

The Arabian Property Awards, according to its organisers, is the celebration and recognition of the region’s property industry’s most innovative projects and people. The inaugural awards ceremony was held at the Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, on Wednesday (June 25).

Designed by celebrity architects, Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill, Verde Residences and Offices are designed to maximise the use of the natural forces of wind, use natural light and geothermal mass, recyclable construction material along with optimum use of energy-efficient systems and technologies.

The 33-level curtain-glazed Verde Office Tower is designed in the shape of trapezoidal. With a total built-up area of 820,000 sq ft, the tower will comprise podium offices and a unique sky garden.

Verde Residence Tower is built in the shape of a boat. The 48-storey glass tower, with a total built-up area of 1.35 million sq ft, includes luxurious two- and three-bedroom units, three- and four-bedroom penthouses and four-bedroom duplex townhouses on podium liner.

As part of being a self-sustained Green community, Verde Offices and Residences will have a district cooling system using wind turbines, photovoltaic solar hot water, energy efficient lighting equipment and grey water system.
