Dubai, November 17, 2009

Pearl Dubai, developers of the Dubai Pearl luxury development, have announced the completion of the fourth and final raft foundation pour, achieved within the timeline of four months.

The raft foundation on Tower 4 of the project consisted of 11,500 cu m of concrete, 2,500 metric tonnes of steel reinforcements and took a record 30 hours in one continuous pour to complete.

Santhosh Joseph, president and CEO of Pearl Dubai, said: 'We have embarked on a mission to create a landmark development and with this milestone achieved, we are yet another step closer. We are committed to delivering a project in line with the exacting construction standards required to achieve the Gold LEED certification.'

“We will now move into the next phase of construction, starting with work on the superstructure of the Towers, in addition to placing the core walls and reinforcements for the columns,” he remarked.

The excavation for the four towers, measuring 8.07 m from the bottom of the raft to the ground level, was completed in eight weeks. Each foundation slab is 3.25 m thick and has a cubic area of 3072 sq m.

A total of around 44,000 cu m of concrete were poured into the foundation of the four-towers on the project, in addition to utilising over 10,000 tonnes of steel reinforcements.

Conceived as the ultimate mixed use destination, Dubai Pearl is a fully integrated, sustainable living city that aims to achieve life in balance through the elements of work, play, stay and live.

Located in the heart of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, overlooking Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Pearl will be the centre of the New Dubai metropolis.-TradeArabia News Service
