Emaar awards $55m deal to Orascom Construction

Cairo, April 8, 2010

Emaar Misr, a subsidiary of Dubai-based Emaar Properties, has awarded Orascom Construction Industries (OCI), a contract worth more than EGP300 million ($54.5 million) for work on homes in a development on Egypt's north coast.

The contract includes executing the finishing works including the interiors and exteriors of Catania homes within Marassi, a 6.25 million sq m tourist and residential project run Emaar Misr.

Marassi is an integrated masterplanned community at the beachside development on Sidi Abdel Rahman bay in Alamein.

The Catania Village, an integral part of Marassi, has homes in the Santorini and Andalusian architectural styles. The Santorini style recreates the distinctive vernacular architecture of hillside coastal towns on the islands of Cyclades in Greece, while the Andalusian styled buildings are inspired by the hill-town architecture in southern Spain.

“Emaar Misr is committed to ensuring a superior development that redefines the lifestyle experience for residents,” said Hazem Ashry, general manager of Emaar Misr.

“All the units are designed by renowned architects and designers, who have paid attention to the smallest detail in the designs. We chose OCI to ensure that the meticulous planning will be executed as envisaged.”

Emaar Misr is on schedule with Uptown Cairo and Mivida, two other master-planned communities in Egypt, he added. – TradeArabia News Service
