GHD tower recognised at property awards

Dubai, November 3, 2010

GHD, a leading engineering and environmental consulting firm, was honoured at The Arabian Property Awards 2010 in association with Bloomberg Television in Dubai this week for its 45-storey Al Bidda Tower in Doha.

The tower was recognised with a five-star award in ‘The Architecture Award (Office) Qatar’ category. Al Bidda Tower’s striking design has captured the attention of visitors since its unveiling earlier this year, a statement said.

The floor plan rotates at each level as the tower rises, which, combined with a diamond-shaped glass façade, gives the impression of movement and life.

Additionally, the innovative design means that the leasable floor space increases in size towards the top of this 90,000 sq m commercial building.

GHD Manager Qatar Michael Kemp said, “We are extremely proud for Al Bidda Tower to have been recognised with this award. Being judged by a group of professionals considered to be global industry leaders is an honour to GHD. This award acknowledges the quality of work produced by our diverse local team.”

The event forms part of the International Property Awards, dedicated to identifying the most outstanding professionals across the globe.

Later this year, winners from the Arabian Property Awards will compete with winning companies from Europe and Africa, the UK, the Americas and Asia Pacific to be acknowledged as the world’s best in each category. – TradeArabia News Service
