Uneeco plans Bahrain project expansion

Manama, February 5, 2014

Universal Electro-Engineering Company (Uneeco) is planning an additional 15,000-sq-m extension to its facility at Bahrain International Investment Park (BIIP) in Hidd, where it will assemble low-voltage (LV) panels for Schneider Electric France and L & T India.

“The new facility will comprise the first and the second storeys atop the existing facility,” explained V Jayashankar, the chief operating officer of the group that specialises in electrical, electronic, communication and security system equipment, products and services.

At the Gulf Industry Fair, Uneeco is showcasing a smart home automation system which it hopes will draw a lot of interest from potential customers. The interactive home automation can be integrated to a smartphone to run the home or an office remotely.

The automation technology, whose costs varies from BD3,000 to BD100,000 ($7957 to $265, 251) can be used in commercial, residential and industrial facilities, stated Jayashankar.

He pointed out that the new smart home technology will result in considerable energy savings for the customers. "It will benefit the corporate sector greatly," stated Jayashankar.

Some of the other highlights of its participation at the fair are specialised UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and specially built air-conditioning systems for data centres.

A leading supplier of low LV control panels, Uneeco has operations in Qatar and Bahrain. It deals with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical power protection, control, monitoring and distribution equipment and their services.

"The LV panel is the 'power behind power' as it helps protects electrical systems and power appliances of up to 6,300 amps," explained Jayashankar.

Uneeco represents a number of world-renowned manufacturers in the field of electrical, electronics, communication and security equipment, products and services, he explained.

The company supplies products such as medium-voltage equipment, switchboards, distribution transformers, motor control centres (MCC), door-answering units, complete substations, LV distribution boards and panels and heat shrinkable joints and terminators.-TradeArabia News Service
