Kohler’s touchless toilet marks a new era

Dubai, July 22, 2014

Revolutionising the way homeowners flush their toilets, Kohler, a global leader in kitchen and bath design and technology, has introduced the its new Touchless toilet technology for the first time in the UAE and Middle East.

True to its name, this new technology allows users to flush the toilet without making contact by using an innovative sensor instead of the traditional flush lever.

Recent studies have revealed that 51 per cent of people surveyed are paranoid about germs in the bathroom. When looking at that same sample group but focusing on moms with children, that number jumped up to 65 per cent, a statement said.

“The Touchless flush is a great solution to this growing demand for increased hygiene in the bathroom. Homeowners are of course worried about the hygiene and health of their family members, and the toilet trip lever is an obvious area of hygienic concern.

Touchless takes that concern out of the equation, utilizing new technology to provide a touchless way to control the flush,” said Pascale Delplace, marketing manager Kohler brand EMEA.

“We are confident that Kohler’s Touchless flush will appeal to homeowners in the UAE and Middle East, particularly given the high level of personal hygiene interest in this part of the world,” she also added.

Touchless works in a very simple manner: holding a hand over the tank lid directly above the sensor actuates the flush. The new Touchless technology is available in the iconic Kohler Cimarron toilet as well as a retro-fit kit that will work with almost any single- flush toilet with a canister or flapper type flush.

Unlike a beam-based sensor, in which a beam of light is broken to trigger the actuation, the Kohler Touchless flush utilises emerging sensing technology, which projects an electromagnetic field that is both extremely accurate and reliable. This type of sensor detects the user in the projected field and initiates the flush.

The Kohler Touchless sensor runs on four AA alkaline batteries that last on average six to twelve months, depending on use. Aside from the batteries that are included with purchase, it needs no other maintenance, providing a hassle-free flushing experience.

The Cimarron Touchless toilet is manufactured without a flush lever, providing a smooth, sleek tank, adding to the overall clean aesthetic that has made the Cimarron toilet popular amongst homeowners. The Cimarron Touchless toilet features Kohler’s innovative AquaPiston technology, a patented flush engine that delivers a fast, powerful, and virtually plug-free flush. The Cimarron Touchless toilet boasts a style that blends with both traditional and transitional bathroom décor.

An easy upgrade for most single-flush toilets, the Touchless flush kit is easy to install and affordable. The small, black module attaches to the toilet tank with a metal bracket and fits perfectly inside the tank to remain out of sight. The chain from the toilet’s flush system attaches to a rotating arm on the Touchless module, which then acts as the flush actuator, replacing the traditional lever handle of the toilet.

When installing the Touchless flush kit as a retro-fit upgrade, the homeowner has the option to remove the existing flush lever and replace with a colour-matched hole cover. A small, raised adhesive flush emblem is provided for optional placement on the tank lid directly above the Touchless flush kit in order to indicate to users where to motion for the toilet to flush.

Both the Cimarron Touchless toilet and the Touchless flush kit are bound to be favorites amongst trade professionals based on the ease of installation, reliability of the Kohler brand and potential for upgrades for their existing client base. - TradeArabia News Service
