Drake & Scull wins Saudi hospital contract

RIYADH, September 24, 2014

Drake & Scull International (DSI) said its subsidiary in Saudi Arabia has won a Dh189 million ($51.4 million) mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contract for a 107-bed hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Al-Dara Hospital and Medical Center, located close to King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, will be the city’s largest and technically-advanced outpatient centre spread over an area of 27,500 sq m.

A Dubai-headquartered contractor, DSI said the scope of work includes complete installation, testing and commissioning of critical MEP systems like heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing and firefighting system, water treatment plant, medical gases system, fuel system, building management system and electrical systems for the hospital.

The work at the Al-Dara Hospital and Medical Center, which is set to begin immediately, will be completed by January 2016, it added.

Ahmad Al Naser, the managing director of Drake & Scull Engineering, said: "Saudi Arabia is our biggest market in the region where we are currently working on several high profile projects such as King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center, Jabal Omar, and Lamar Towers."

"In addition, we have previously worked on landmark developments like the Information Technology Communications Complex and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. DSI has been highly active in the healthcare sector with an aim to improve and upgrade the quality of the healthcare services in the markets where we operate," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
