the next five years.

Egypt seeks support to build 60,000 housing units

CAIRO, March 23, 2015

Egypt's Ministry of Housing has called upon construction companies to take over the development of the proposed 60,000 housing units in eight new cities across the country, said a report.

The ministry, represented by the New Urban Communities Authority (Nuca), made the plea as the country embarks on its ambitious “one million residential units' scheme, reported the Daily News Egypt.

The project will be carried out by top UAE construction firm Arabtec with investments of up to $40 billion, it stated. It aims to provide new housing units to low-income citizens over the next five years, the report added.

According to Nuca, about 10,000 units will be built in 6th of October City, for the benefit of Giza citizens.

Another 13,000 units of the project have been completed by the armed forces through a UAE grant in 6th of October City. These will be proposed for reservation during the next month, it added.
