Work to begin on $19m Amman water plant

A new water purification plant with an estimated total cost of JD14 million ($19.7 million) and an operating capacity of 7500 cu m per day will be built in the Tafilah Governorate of Amman, Jordan, a report said.

The first phase of the construction of the plant, which will provide new areas in the governorate with sewage services will soon begin, Ibrahim Shahahdeh, head of the Lower House Agriculture and Water Committee was quoted as saying in the Petra (Jordan News Agency) report.

The plant, which is funded by the US Agency for International Development, will increase the number of people served by sewer services through the use of highly technical specification stations, said Mustafa Zanon, manager of Tafilah Water.
