Bids invited for 4,200-unit Jeddah housing scheme

JEDDAH, June 3, 2015

Bids have been called for the construction of 4,200 housing units north of King Abdulaziz International Airport in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a report said.

The Jeddah Iskan One project is slated to accommodate 23,331 citizens, added the Saudi Gazette report.

The contract for the infrastructure for the project has already been awarded, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Housing Essam Bin Saad was quoted as saying in the report.

The minister also unveiled plans to implement the second housing project, Jeddah Iskan Two, near Ameer Fawaz district in south Jeddah, according to the report.

The project aims at constructing 10,630 housing units for 58,358 people. It also involves the installation of water, sewage and electricity networks, pavement work, asphalting of roads, lighting and landscaping.

The housing projects in Jeddah will be completed within two years, the minister said.

Bids will also be invited within two weeks for implementing a housing project for 2,500 apartments in Dammam in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, and the period of implementation is 24 months, Bin Saad said.
