Big 5 2014 ... more than 5,000 visitors.

$188bn construction projects under way in Kuwait

KUWAIT, July 1, 2015

With projects worth $188 billion currently under various stages of planning and construction, Kuwait’s construction sector is poised for significant growth, said the event organisers of an upcoming building and construction event in the country.

“Kuwait has earmarked $7.2 billion from its annual budget for 2015-2016 for the construction sector and accelerated the sector’s growth,” explained Ashley Roberts, event director of The Big 5 Kuwait.

“To leverage the fresh momentum experienced by the Kuwaiti market, our event will highlight state-of-the-art solutions and products for the construction sector. Following two successful editions, we are upbeat that the 2015 event will generate positive results for exhibitors and visitors alike,” Roberts added.

The third edition of The Big 5 Kuwait will be held from September 14 to 16 at the Kuwait International Fair.

One new feature is the addition of a hall dedicated to Building Interiors products. The move is in response to the 2014 visitor survey, where 41 per cent of visitors last year requested to see more interiors products.

Building Interiors products command a high demand in Kuwait with the combined value of the retail, interior and fit-out market standing at $31 million.

The new hall will be an exclusive showcase of products from the segments such as bathroom accessories, ceilings partitions, ceramics and porcelain, flooring, sanitary ware, showers, fitted furniture, sinks, bathtubs, and wall coverings.

A second new feature is the 20-plus free-to-attend Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accredited workshops. They will be highly educational for architects, interior designers, consultants, procurement managers, contractors, real estate developers, engineers, and government sector personnel who can register the points with their professional association or use it as certificate of attendance.

Seventy-six per cent of visitors who attended a workshop in 2014 rated the sessions as either ‘excellent’ or ‘good.’

The Big 5 Kuwait 2015 will provide an ideal venue for regional and international manufacturers and distributors of related goods and services to showcase their products to the now proven lucrative Kuwaiti market. At the same time, It will offer local buyers easy access to these new and innovative products.

The Big 5 Kuwait is the largest building and construction event in Kuwait, attracting visitors from the country as well as from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and UAE.

In 2014, the event attracted more than 5,000 industry professionals, including architects, engineers, interior designers, contractors and developers looking to source products to service building and infrastructure projects during the exhibition’s three-day run.- TradeArabia News Service
