Bahrain to fast-track key development projects

MANAMA, October 28, 2015

A ministerial committee has been assigned by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to fast-track eight priority development projects in Muharraq area of Bahrain, said a report.

On a visit yesterday to Muharraq, the Premier held a meeting with government officials in charge of community services, in the presence of Muharraq municipal councillors.

He directed the construction of a multi-storey car park at the site of the current post office building and to rebuild the parts that were gutted in a fire which broke out in Muharraq Suq, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

He instructed the Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry to meet the needs of Muharraq Suq in terms of services and revamped roads and provide all necessary facilities for shoppers and visitors.

HRH urged them to step up the revamp of road networks at Dair and Samaheej and also Busaiteen public beach.

He also directed the fast-tracking of housing projects in Arad, Busaiteen and Hidd in co-ordination with relevant government agencies.

Additionally, Housing Minister Bassem Al Hamer updated the Premier on the progress of the projects in Muharraq.

HRH was also briefed by Works, Municipality and Urban Planning Affairs Minister Essam Khalaf on the technical and legal issues which impeded the completion of projects.

“We want all that planned on paper to become a tangible fact on the ground quickly and without delay,” he said, adding that the government would spare no effort for the projects to materialise.

Instructions were also given to allocate land on which a branch of Bahrain University will be built and to revamp Muharraq Grand Park. said the report.

He also gave directives to start work on the new central market and vacate the old one, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
