Dubai's Taaj Arabia likely to break ground in 2016

DUBAI, December 30, 2015

Taaj Arabia, an upcoming project in Dubai inspired by India’s iconic landmark Taj Mahal, is likley to break ground in 2016 and be ready in time for the mega Expo 2020 event, said a report.

The five-star hotel project, being developed by UAE-based Link Global Group, will come up on over 20 acres of land in Falcon City of Wonders in Dubailand. It will be twice the size of the Taj Mahal and will have 'moonlight' glow, reported the Emirates24/7, citing a senior official.

"The revised Taaj Arabia, which will have about 450 keys, 300 residential and serviced apartments, retail shops, boutique arcade, and an indoor banqueting facility with a capacity of over 2,000 people, is set to become the biggest and the best wedding destination in the region," remarked Falah AlSalman, the project development director.

The project will be ready as a tourist destination at the Falcon City of Wonders ahead of the mega event in Dubai, which will play host to over 25 million visitors from October 2020 to April 2021, he added.

Launched in 2005, Falcon City of Wonders will feature structures based on architectural marvels of the world such as the Great Wall of China, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Pyramids, the Leaning Tower of Pisa among others.

Link Global Group pointed out that Taaj Arabia was not a replica but a project “inspired by the monument of love.”

"It is not a replica… it is two times bigger than Taj Mahal. Moreover, we will have many more features as we are creating a new destination," stated Arun Mehra, the group director.

"In fact, Taaj Arabia in Dubai, will have a moonlight glow, using lighting techniques, that will make it visible from faraway and as instantly recognized as a global icon," he added.
